Product Activation Help

Sometimes you need to repair your OS.  Xp seems to have a problem activating when you put a new motherboard in the system and then you have to put your OS disk in and go threw setup and repair the OS.  When you start the computer the Windows Activation tells you you must activate and it will not load the Windows Activation Screen, or let you log into windows to install network drivers or do anything.

A Few Tricks you can use to help you with this.

1. Boot in Safe Mode and remove IE8 and IE7

goto start run and type [ie8] look for the folder spuninst and run spuninst.exe this will uninstall IE8
try to boot back in normal mode and go threw activation again.

Dont work
re-Boot in safemode and repeat for ie7

If that dosen't work try safe mode again and download the IE8 install and install from safemode you can skip the install updates options.  (will have to download from another machine - memory stick it)
re-Boot in Normail mode try again.

2. 2nd option Give yourself 30 more days of Activation

From Safe Mode or Safe Mode Command Prompt
In the command line enter the following command:

rundll32.exe syssetup,SetupOobeBnk

If it doesn't work (although has for me every time) you may need to register two files first:

regsvr32 regwizc.dll
regsvr32 licdll.dll
Then enter the rundll32.exe syssetup,SetupOobeBnk again

Restart, and you have now 30 days to activate online or over the net or just run it again in 30 days (120days max)

Next download the Windows Product-Key Activation tool from this page for your OS
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/genuine/product-key?T1=tab03
Put in your Serial KEY and you should be good to go!

PS reinstall the IE version you want and also do all your windows Updates to keep you running smooth!

Craig!
